Nicanor Perlas
Global Civil Society and a Deeper CSR Framework
Nicanor Perlas is President of the Center for Alternative Development Initiatives (www.cadi.ph), a civil society organization focusing on the advancement of comprehensive and integral sustainable development through profound individual and societal transformation. He is the publisher and editor-in-chief of TruthForce!, an Internet-based news and analysis service. He is the spokesperson of Karangalan, a national forum seeking to advance a better Philippines. He is co-founder of the Global Network for Social Threefolding, found in over 12 country regions of the world. Perlas provides strategic guidance as a member of the Board of both Lifebank and Lifebank Foundation, which together serves 38,000 micro-entrepreneurs. Perlas headed a number of national civil society formations including the national network responsible for creating a number of laws and institutions advancing sustainable development. He has written more than 150 articles, monographs and books on a diverse range of topics, including science, technology, ecology, epistemology, culture, psychology, governance, social movements, and spiritual science and personal transformation. He wrote the international bestseller, 'Shaping
Globalization: Civil Society, Cultural Power, and Threefolding', translated in over 9 languages. For the national and international impact of his work, Nicanor Perlas received, among others, the 2003 Right Livelihood Award or Alternative Nobel Prize and UNEP's Global 500 Award.
