Beyond the Oil Peak: Sustainable Energy Futures

Godfrey Boyle

During this century, humanity needs to make a rapid transition to low-or zero-carbon energy sources, not only because conventional oil supplies are nearing their peak but also because of the urgent need to mitigate the effects of fossil-fuel-induced climate change. This workshop will explore various paths to a more sustainable energy future and how we might get there.

Godfrey Boyle is Director of the Energy & Environment Research Unit at the UK Open University (OU). He has chaired and co-authored various OU courses on renewable and sustainable energy, is co-author and editor of "Renewable Energy" and "Energy Systems and Sustainability" (Oxford University Press, 2003 & 2004), and is a trustee of the National Energy Foundation.
