Mergers very often result in the lowest common denominator of company culture taking over and undermining even the best efforts. In this workshop Lorenzo Becattini will share his experiences from the recent merger of Tosca Gas and Fiorentina Gas. Fiorentina Gas spa is the leading industry in Tuscan gas distribution. It now manages about 5 000 km of gas piping, serving 51 local governments in 6 Tuscan districts, and providing gas to 900.000 households. Fiorentina Gas deals with gas pipe planning, building and managing, directing installations, making tests and consulting. Other leading edge factors are 24-hour service, remote control and computerized cartography.

Lorenzo Becattini has been President of Fiorentina Gas since June 2003. He received his Political Science degree at the Cesare Alfieri´s University of Florence; he was the Mayor of Reggello and Florence Government´s Economy Councillor. Today, besides working at Fiorentina Gas, he is also Managing Director of Openup Consulting Srl, a member of Florence´s Businessmen´s Association and of Florence´s Historical Enterprises Management Committee.
